It’s been an awesome year! Reflecting back, I can honestly say this has been one of the most productive years since I launched my company in 2001. After leaving the challenges of the previous year behind, I was eager to dive back into painting for my clients. This year, my projects took me to new places—Baltimore and DC as usual, but also to Los Angeles, New York, and the New Jersey Shore. Here’s a roundup of some of my favorite projects. Enjoy!
Decorative Painting in Los Angeles:
Working in Calabasas with my dear friend Claire on a beautiful mural for a dining room:
One of the standout moments this year was helping with the restoration of the Pasadena Civic Auditorium alongside Evan. It’s the iconic venue where they film America’s Got Talent. While we were up on the lift working, Claire and I experienced an earthquake—definitely an unforgettable moment! It added a bit of extra excitement to an already memorable project.
Another memorable project this year was working in the Hollywood Hills with Claire on a stunning silver leaf ceiling. It was a challenging yet rewarding project, combining precision with artistry in such an iconic setting. The intricate work and the view were truly a highlight!
Mural Projects in New York and New Jersey
I had the pleasure of creating a vibrant Coral Reef mural for Dragonfly Designs out of Colorado. The mural was commissioned for clients in the Columbia Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY. It was a fantastic project that allowed me to bring an underwater world to life in such a dynamic and unique space.
In Ocean Township, New Jersey, I had the opportunity to work on a home for clients of WT Cooper - William White. It was a fantastic project, and I’ll be returning to complete another one soon. A huge thank you to Cathy Rinn for all her support—she was an amazing help and my spotter throughout the work!
Maryland, DC, and Virginia
I had the pleasure of completing a fantasy marble fireplace surround for clients of Lisa & Leroy in the Cathedral Heights neighborhood of Washington, DC. It was a stunning project that brought a touch of elegance and creativity to their space. The photos, beautifully captured by Jenn Verrier, truly showcase the detail and craftsmanship that went into the work.
I had the pleasure of working with incredible clients in the Patterson Park neighborhood of Baltimore City on a striking inkblot mural for their stairwell. I created the mural in the studio on canvas and then installed it on-site with the help of my favorite paperhanger, Shelly Wilkins of Walls, Etc. It was a collaborative effort that resulted in a truly unique and stunning piece!
Another fun project this year was painting a fireplace surround in a newly renovated condo for clients in Alexandria, Virginia. It was a great opportunity to add a personalized touch to their space, and the finished piece really enhanced the modern aesthetic of the home.
I also had the chance to work on a couple of outdoor projects this year, including Pirates Cove Restaurant and Dock Bar in historic Galesville, MD. The original building dates back to the 1600s, and it's true—pirates really did hide out in the river! It was a fascinating and unique setting to bring my work to life, surrounded by so much history and character.
One of the highlights of the year was the honor of restoring William Cochran’s “Edge of Gravity” mural in downtown Historic Frederick, Maryland. It was no easy task, but it was an incredible opportunity—a true masterclass in the art of mural restoration. The experience was both challenging and rewarding, and I’m grateful to have been part of preserving such a significant piece of art.
Back in Baltimore, I had the opportunity to create signage for the newest addition to the Foreman Wolfe Restaurant family, The Duchess, located in Hampden. Katie DeStefano did an incredible job with the interior design, and it was a pleasure to contribute to the overall aesthetic with the custom signage. It’s always exciting to be part of a project that combines art with such a vibrant local spot.
It wasn’t all work, though! Evan and I managed to get away to Barbados with friends, which was a much-needed escape. I also had the opportunity to teach classes at the annual IDAL conference in St. Louis, Missouri—such a great experience! And when I wasn’t working, I was busy creating, making lots of new things and playing plenty of music. It’s been a well-rounded year of both hard work and creative fun!
Barbados…
Teaching…
…And music with the Gold Ponies and Busted Boots
It’s been an incredible year, and I’m so grateful to be back at it and staying busy. 2025 is already shaping up to be an even bigger year, and I couldn’t be more excited. A huge thank you to all of my clients, friends, family, and everyone who has supported me along the way. Cheers to continued good health and success!
